Toyin Abraham, a Nollywood actress, recently announced the launch of her new project, which has elicited mixed reactions.
Toyin took to Instagram to announce the launch of her kiddies YouTube channel, which is solely dedicated to teaching and entertaining children.
Many people were critical of her new project because it was similar to Funke Akindele’s children’s program.
Funke Akindele supported her husband, JJC Skillz, on his kids’ show before they announced their separation.
JJC Skillz has an educational channel for kids where he educates and entertains them about Nigeria’s various languages.
Sokidz, the name of his project, is a simple way for children to learn children’s songs and nursery rhymes in English and their native language.
Many chastised Toyin Abraham for following in Funke Akindele’s footsteps, citing similarities between JJC Skillz’s kids’ program and her new project.
Toyin wrote, “Hello fam! I am delighted to present to you my new YouTube channel created for our beautiful children to learn while having fun. It is called “TOYIN ABRAHAM Kiddies” where you will find all contents for our kids”.
Taking to her comment section, some of her followers faulted her for imitating Funke Akindele.
akanmu_adedamola: Why does this feel like a Funke Akindele initiative???
tolu_leke: You Sha dey chase Funke Akindele. You’re always doing everything she does.
On a recheck on her comment section and noticed Toyin Abraham seems to have deleted negative comments.
Since 2020, there have been rumors that actors Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham are not friends because they consistently avoid each other on social media during birthdays, wedding anniversaries, premieres, and other occasions.
The talented actresses who are feuding began their acting careers in the Yoruba film industry and have recently made their mark on the silver screen. They are debatable, and no pushovers when it comes to interpreting movie scripts to letters, but they have a pronounced rivalry over who is the best.
A blogger claimed that Funke Akindele had been spitting on Toyin Abraham in front of other Nollywood stars and had threatened to stop working with a popular stylist if she dared to style Toyin Abraham.
Their rivalry became pronounced after Toyin Abraham released a sequel to her one film, The Ghost and The Tout, on September 10, 2021, and interestingly, Funke Akindele, who completely avoided Toyin’s movie poster, also set the same date, September 10, for the release of her Omo Ghetto the Saga film on Netflix, an act that divided their fans.
When Iyabo Ojo accused Funke Akindele of paying a popular movie critic to trash Toyin Abraham’s film, the rivalry took flight.
