Argentina’s Central Bank Is Considering A Lionel Messi Bank Note.

Messi has been at the center of discussions to have his face put on a new 1,000 peso bill since guiding Argentina to their first World Cup victory since 1986 in Mexico.

According to the newspaper El Financiero, Argentina’s Central Bank is eager to commemorate the national team’s historic victory in Qatar and has been brainstorming ideas since before the epic 4-2 shootout win over France in the final.

Mock-ups of the 1,000 peso note under consideration have since gone viral, with fans eager to see it in circulation.

According to EF, one of the main reasons for the 1,000 bill is that it starts with a ’10’ – Messi’s shirt number for Argentina.

While Messi’s grinning face is on one side of the note, this group’s nickname ‘La Scaloneta’ is the wording proposed for the back.

The term has become synonymous with this group since Lionel Scaloni succeeded Jorge Sampaoli back in 2018.

Argentina went on to win the 2021 Copa America, the first-ever Finalissima at Wembley Stadium, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup during Scaloni’s reign.

If bank officials proceed with their plan to release the note, which they believe will become highly collectible for Argentine civilians, it will not be their first foray into currency exchange with the national team.

When Argentina won its first World Cup in 1978, they issued commemorative coins.

On the 50th anniversary of the death of Eva Perón, Argentina’s former First Lady, commemorative coins were also issued.

Messi is currently relaxing at home in Rosario, where he was greeted by hundreds of ecstatic fans upon his return on Tuesday.

Messi scored twice in Sunday’s final, in which Argentina surrendered a 2-0 lead before losing a 3-2 lead in extra time. They went on to win the penalty shootout 4-2.

He was named Tournament MVP, and he will return to Paris Saint-Germain in the new year, eager to add the Champions League to his incredible 2022-23 season.
