Arsenal and Manchester City have reached an agreement verbally on a fee for Gabriel Jesus, which is expected to be completed within the next week or so.

CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs reported on The Football Terrace on Wednesday that Arsenal and Manchester City have finally verbally agreed on a fee for Gabriel Jesus.

It’s now highly likely that a deal will be completed within the next seven to ten days, with the striker earning around £220,000 per week on personal terms.

That would make Jesus one of Arsenal’s highest-paid players, if not the highest-paid player.

After removing the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from this summer’s wage bill, the Gunners clearly have the capacity for such a deal.

Given that Jesus is 25 and a five-year contract would keep him in his thirties as a top Premier League striker, it’s also not a surprising figure in today’s game.

Reaching a verbal agreement appears to be a significant step, but Arsenal must now get the terms in writing before finalizing everything with a medical and so on.

Jesus’ representatives flew to England in the last few days to push a deal through, and it appears that this has helped to move things along.

After appearing on international duty with Brazil earlier this month, the player is currently on vacation with his partner and their new baby in Portugal.

So, even if everything between the two clubs is finalized on paper, we’ll have to wait for Jesus’ break to end before seeing him in an Arsenal shirt.

The deal appears to be moving forward; fans will just have to wait.
