When asked about Arsenal’s interest in his superstar player, the manager keeps the door ajar.

Bruno Lage, manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, was asked about rumours linking Pedro Neto to a move to Arsenal in the final week of the transfer window.

This summer, Arsenal are attempting to offload Nicolas Pepe, and OGC Nice are reportedly in talks to sign him on loan. If the Ivorian leaves, Arsenal will need to replace him, and Neto could be the man.

According to reports this week, the Portuguese winger is Mikel Arteta’s top target this summer. Wolves are adamant that he is not for sale, but Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Neto is seriously being tempted, after Arsenal’s reported interest.

The 22-year-old has five years remaining on his contract, and Wolves are said to be seeking a fee in excess of £50 million to sell him.

Following Wolves’ 2-1 EFL Cup win over Preston last night, Lage was asked about rumours linking Neto to a move to the Emirates.

“I don’t know, I’ve heard about it, but nothing has come to us.”

“It’s normal, especially with the good players we have, that the good teams are looking for players in the same way that we are looking for players like Guedes, Matheus and Collins.

“The other teams are looking for players like we have, but no-one told me nothing about any proposals, so I cannot confirm nothing.”

The Wolves manager said, according to the Express and Star.
