Cross River State Covid-19 taskforce stop couple from wedding, and arrest pastor in Calabar


The wedding was going on when, taskforce team burst into the church.

“We were on our normal every second patrol and decied to cover that road to see compliance level when i see cars park and i was like, this is church now, and i wonder where these cars are coming from?”

“Lo and behold, we see crowd with over 300 People for the weeding and it shock me because day in day out, his Excellency, prof. Ben Ayade the Governor of Cross River said that gathering be it religious or social is not allowed and we as taskforce members we are working to see that such event doesn’t take place.” Said by mr Potrait Peterson the chairman, special patrol team, Covid-19 response. “We didn’t go they becuse of the couple, we go they to find out why the church is open to do weeding, so what we did was to respectfully carry the pastor.”

“Even though we have armed police people, we didn’t use violence.” mr peterson added

Peterson says that the pastor is still under police custody as at the time he reports.
