Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command has paraded 13 suspected criminals arrested for various offences ranging from cultism, stealing, cyber stalking, criminal conspiracy, assault and attempted murder.

The spokesperson of the Corps in the state, Tolulope Afolabi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said six of the suspects allegedly stripped a 23-year-old lady, Omolola Muda, poured pepper into her private part while filming her and afterward posted the video online.

 

According to the spokesperson, the victim reported a case of attempted murder on her and how she was stripped naked by the suspects over a misunderstanding.

“The suspects, Tosin Adebayo 22years, Abejide Olamide 22 years, Adeoye Adesewa 21years, Oke Oluwanife 22 years old, Ayeni Banke 22 years and Adekola Iremide 22 years had been on the radar of Counter Terrorism Unit Since 18th March 2023 before they were arrested yesterday at 10 Ekute Area of Ado Ekiti,” the statement read.

“Miss Omolola Muda, 23 years, had approached the Command and reported a case of attempted murder against the above suspects and how she was mobbed by 7 of them, stripped her naked as a result of a misunderstanding between them. After she victim was stripped, the suspects injected pepper into her private part, took the video and posted it on the social media group created by the principal suspect Tosin Adebayo who is the group leader.

“Preliminary investigation by the Counter Terrorism Unit showed that the suspects are members of a cult group in the state capital and their mission initially was to kill the victim and dump her in a pit before an unknown person in the neighborhood came to her rescue,”

In another development, some students of Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti were arrested by the Counter Terrorist Unit on the 8th of April 2023. The students were suspected members of Eye Fraternity who were wrecking havoc on the people living along Poly road, Ado Ekiti.

According to Afolabi, the Counter Terrorism Unit received a complaint from One Mr. Emmanuel Oyekunle of Oyeban Hotel Junction, along Poly Road about a threat to his life, stealing and destruction of his property by a suspected cultists group. The CTU quickly acted on the information and later arrested seven suspects in connection with the crime.

The suspects, Adebayo Ayomideji 19 years, Aladegbemi Oluwafemi 22 years, Ayedemi Damilola Tosin (f) 18 years, Oyebanji Selim 20 years, Abiodun Taiwo (f) 23 years old Taiwo Okunmakinju (f) 23 years and Abiodun Kehinde Seun (f) 25 years were arrested with some of the stolen goods in their custody.

Threat messages were earlier received by the complainant through one of the suspects phone number about their intentions to loot his shop and destroy his property before they eventually committed the crime.

All the suspects are currently assisting the command to trace other members of the confraternity with an assurance from Counter Terrorism Unit that other members of the group will be arrested and send to court and concluding of preliminary investigation about the matter.

Afolabi quoted the State Commandant, John Olatunde Fayemi, as saying that “the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command has been working assiduously to make sure that Ekiti State is free from pockets of security breaches like this and the command under his watch, will open open his eyes and allow young boys and girls who are supposed to be our leaders of tomorrow, destroy our heritage and relegated human dignity with impunity.”
