Angus Cloud, a well-known American actor, died on Monday from a suspected drug overdose.
Cloud’s mother called 911 at 11:30 a.m. local time to report a “possible overdose.” She also noticed that Angus had no pulse. The actor was pronounced dead on the spot after the Oakland Police Department and Fire Department arrived.
Cloud’s family disclosed to TMZ in a statement that the actor died in his family home in Oakland, California, after suffering grief over the loss of his father.
Angus’ father was buried last week in Ireland, and according to family members, the actor has struggled with suicide thoughts since then.
The statement read, “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”
“Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.
“We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
Cloud rose to prominence after appearing in the hit HBO series Euphoria from 2019 to 2022. He played Fezco, a heroin dealer and friend of the main character, Rue, who was played by Zendaya.
