Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has slammed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, claiming he is incapable of dealing with ‘big players.’

The Gabonese player, who joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window, had a falling out with Arteta at Arsenal, where he spent four years, scoring 92 goals in 163 games. This included just over two years with Arteta as manager, but his final few months at the club were marred by the Spaniard’s decision to remove Aubameyang as captain due to a number of disciplinary issues.

The fallout led to the Gunners terminating the forward’s contract in February, before he signed with Barcelona and later returned to England to join Chelsea.

Aubameyang criticized Arteta’s management style after leaving Arsenal.

‘I remember they [Barcelona] first called my father,’ Aubameyang told A Jewellers.

‘We knew the coach, Xavi, then he called me and said there is an opportunity because you have those problems with Arsenal, but if you come you will help us a lot, so I said, ‘okay’.

‘But to manage big characters or big players, he (Arteta) can’t deal with it.

‘He (Arteta) needs some young players, they don’t say anything, they listen.’

Aubameyang only stayed with Barcelona for six months, scoring 13 goals in 24 games.

Aubameyang has scored twice in four games for Graham Potter’s side so far.
