“He’s the better player” Carragher tells Southgate who is the better player between Foden and Saka ahead of Worldcup
Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (11:02pm, October 3, 2022) that Arsenal star Bukayo Saka had done more than Manchester City ace Phil Foden for England.
However, the former Liverpool star and Sky Sports pundit believes that Manchester City midfielder Foden is a better player than Arsenal’s Saka, who can operate as a winger, left-back or midfielder.
Carragher made the comments about Saka and Foden on Monday night Football while discussing the potential England team for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
JAMIE CARRAGHER ON ARSENAL’S BUKAYO SAKA V MANCHESTER CITY’S PHIL FODEN
The Sky Sports pundit said: “Now, if you are asking me who is the better player, Phil Foden or Saka, Phil Foden.
“I was watching him for Man City, he was amazing yesterday, but I feel like Saka has actually done more in an England shirt.”
WHO IS BETTER?
In our view, Manchester City star Phil Foden is a better player than Bukayo Saka of Arsenal.
Now, Saka, 21, is hugely talented and has done well for Arsenal in recent years, but 22-year-old Foden does have more quality and is a ‘generational talent’.
Yes, Foden has not been able to always take his club form to international level, but you cannot ignore what he has done at City.
Foden is only 22, but he is already playing regularly for Pep Guardiola’s City team.
That is not an easy feat.
Moreover, the English youngster has also done very well in the UEFA Champions League.
The City star scored a hat-trick in the Manchester derby against Manchester United this past weekend.
The attacking midfielder has scored five goals and given two assists in eight Premier League matches and has scored one goal in two UEFA Champions League games for City so far this season.
Saka has scored one goal and given four assists in eight Premier League games and has played 21 minutes in the UEFA Europa League for Arsenal so far this campaign.
