Speaking to TMZ, Coolio’s manager, Jarez Posey, said, “Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend’s house, but when he didn’t come out after a while, the friend kept calling for him and eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor.”

Coolio was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics who arrived at his friend’s house after he called.

According to Jarez, paramedics believe he died of cardiac arrest, though an official cause of death has yet to be determined.

The rapper rose to prominence in the 1990s with his hit song ‘Gangsta’s Paradise,’ which was featured on the soundtrack of Michelle Pfeiffer’s film ‘Dangerous Minds.’
