Talented Nigerian singer & the famous Guitar Boy (Mami Water) crooner, Sir Victor Uwaifo has died, official reports have confirmed this.
The prolific guitarist demise was confirmed by a close family source on Saturday evening.
According to the statement released, Sir Victor died battling a brief illness after celebrating his 80th birth anniversary in March.
Uwaifo is the first professional musicians to be awarded with the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
The popular musician is renowed for his ‘Joromi’ tune that sent shockwaves worldwide, this is a tune that’s still been played hitherto.
He was also the first man to be given the title of Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria. RIP.
