Lionel Messi is the first player to win the Best FIFA Men’s Player award three times.

The 36-year-old Argentine legend was named the 2023 winner at The Best FIFA Football Awards gala in London on Monday, January 15.

Lionel Messi was honoured for his exploits, having won the vote ahead of finalists Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Lionel Messi, on the other hand, did not attend the celebration since he was with his Inter Miami colleagues practicing for a pre-season friendly against El Salvador on Friday.

The Argentina captain previously received the accolade in 2019 and 2022.

Every year, the Best FIFA Award is given to the best outstanding performer in men’s football.
