Al Ahly, led by Pitso Mosimane, were defeated 2-0 by Wydad Casablanca in the 2021-22 CAF Champions League final, which took place at the Stade Mohamed V on Monday night.

The Red Castle won their third CAFCL title, following titles in 1992 and 2017. Zouheir El Moutaraji scored a hat trick.

In the meantime, Mosimane and the Red Devils missed out on making history: Ahly, who already have a record 10 Champions League titles, were hoping to become the first club to win the competition three times in a row, while the South African tactician fell short of Manuel Jose’s four CAFCL titles as a coach.

With Ahly in 2001, 2005, 2006, and 2008, the Portuguese won the continental tournament, while Mosimane won three times with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, and Ahly in 2020 and 2021.
