The gunmen who abducted the Chairman of the Nasarawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Bishop Joseph Masin, have contacted his family and are reportedly demanding a N20 million ransom.

The abductors reportedly broke into their victim’s residence at Bukan Sidi in Lafia, the state capital, about 11p.m. on Wednesday and took him away.

Sources said the gunmen rode on motorcycles, forced their way into the compound and wasted no time in taking their victim away.

Serving an update on the abduction, the state CAN Vice Chairman Pastor Tayo  Samuel told New Telegraph that the abductors had contacted one of the victim’s sons and demanded N20 million.

He said;

“Early this morning (yesterday), the kidnappers contacted one of his sons through his telephone and demanded 20 million. The negotiation is ongoing.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe has however disclosed that the police are already on the trail of the kidnappers.

Longe said the police would ensure that Mason was rescued unhurt.
