The school authority of Novena university in Ogume, Delta State, has asked over 500 currently enrolled students to withdraw. This comes as the school board identified that these students’ admission were fake.
This action by the school authority resulted in a protest by students of Novena university, on Friday August 26.
It was gathered that the affected students who are said to be on scholarship are on 200 to 400 levels. The students are said to be beneficials of the Niger Delta presidential amnesty program.
This uproar prompted the school management’s decision to close down the school, ending the 2021/2022 academic session, in what seems like an indefinite closure.
The school authority had earlier released a memo announcing the closure of the school, from the desk of the acting vice chancellor, Prof. Ndubeze V. Students were asked to exit the school grounds immediately, but not late than 4PM on August 28. The management warned students against flouting the derectives.
The memo reads;
Management hereby announces the closure of Novena University for the 2021/2022 Academic Session. All students by this notice MUST VACATE the University hostels/ campus immediately, but NOT later than 4pm today, Sunday, 28/8/22. Loitering of any student on and around the campus shall not be tolerated. Students must remove ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS and submit their room key/keys to appropriate officers at Dean of Students Affairs Office through their Respective Halls Representatives failing which such students will face appropriate sanctions.
Prof Ndubeze V.
The examination period in the school has been disrupted by this sudden news of closure. As of now, some department in the school are yet to complete their exams for this semester.Click here to give us five stars rating!
