An Osun State part-time final year student of political science, identified as Victor Oke, has reportedly been set on fire, for refusing to join a cult Group in the Institution on Saturday, 11th December.
The occurrence was confirmed in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, of Osun State University, about the incidence on Monday, 13th December,
The statement revealed that Oke had sustained gunshots wounds, and was battered with machete cuts before he was set ablaze.
As luck prevailed, Oke was rescued and conveyed to the hospital, and only sustained wounds.
The management of the Osun State University stated that the perpetrators of the attack must be arrested and made to face the law.
The statement from the varsity read:
“We noticed that Victor was absent for his final paper in the afternoon and decided to contact his parents.
“It was later discovered that he was attacked by unknown cultists in the early hours of Saturday.
“Victor was shouting that he was not joining their cult group while they continued to hit him with cutlasses, hard stones and attempted to burn him, partially succeeding before he was eventually rescued.
“The University security unit is currently working with the Police to ensure the culprits are exposed and brought to book. The cultists must be arrested.”Click here to give us five stars rating!
