Corporal Roland Agbovi Tetteh, a Ghanaian police officer, has been arrested for reportedly raping a suspected thief in cell.

The policeman from Asutuare was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl who was hauled to the police station for allegedly stealing from her ex-boyfriend.

The event occurred shortly after Precious Azumah, the victim, vomited, prompting Corporal Roland, who was on duty, to open the cells so she could clean her mat as well as the cell.

According to Precious, the officer began harassing her by fondling her breast, which she resisted. This persisted, prompting her to flee from jail while being led back to her cell, but she was apprehended and returned to custody.

The police officer reportedly opened the cell door for her to take a bath on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at around 11:30 p.m. and stood in the bathroom with her until she finished bathing.

Corporal Agbovi Tetteh was accused of raping her in the restroom and threatened her not to tell anybody about it.
