A Magistrate was arrested for impersonating a woman in order to write law exams for his girlfriend.

Musa Semwogerere, a freshly appointed Magistrate, was arrested for impersonating as a woman in order to sit for exams for his fiancée at the Law Development Centre (LDC) Lira, Uganda.

The Judicial Service Commission advanced him to the level of grade one magistrate two weeks ago, according to local media.

Mukisa, as Semwogerere is affectionately known. Anthony was busted while writing  exams for his girlfriend, Irene Mutonyi.

The incident was reported to police by campus authorities, and the suspect was detained and charged with two counts of forgery and one act of impersonation.

He appeared before the Lira Chief Magistrate on Friday, July 28, and was sent to prison until August 3, 2023.

According to LDC director Frank Nigel Othembi, Semwogerere’s offence violated Section 351 of the Penal Code Act and Impersonation violated Section 381 of the Penal Code Act.

Following the incident, the Judiciary issued a statement removing Semwogerere from his new position.
