Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has told manager Erik ten Hag he wants to fight for his place in his team.

Ronaldo refused Ten Hag’s instruction to come on as a late sub during the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old was subsequently dropped for the Red Devils’ trip to Chelsea on Saturday.

But Ronaldo has now told his boss he wants to get his head down and return to the group.

The Portugal captain is desperate to leave for the 2022 World Cup in peak condition and he knows he won’t achieve that if he is training by himself.

Ten Hag’s men needed a late header from Casemiro to claim a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
