A church has reacted to a photo that went viral and created controversy online showing two persons laying on each other on the church’s altar while a pastor and other church members held out their hands towards them.

The couple had been trying to get a child for ten years without success, according to viral reports, and when they sought aid from the church, the minister pushed them to have coitus on the altar in front of the congregation.

The image stirred debate, with many people sharing their opinions on it.

The church in Brazil, however, responded by claiming that the photo was of two women, not a man and a woman.

They said that the woman had been ill when she arrived and had passed out during service. As a prophetic act, the pastor called the ailing woman after the sermon and urged another woman to lie on her.

According to the church, having a female minister to lie on top of the sick woman was inspired by a Bible chapter in which Prophet Elisha lay on the corpse of a dead boy while praying to God to resurrect his spirit.
