Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Sporting CP, has responded to reports that he is interested in replacing Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United had a dismal start to the season, losing 8 of their first 15 games in all competitions, and they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night after a 3-0 loss to Newcastle United.
According to sources, Amorim’s contract includes a €10 million (£8.7 million) release clause, but the 38-year-old has indicated that he respects and wishes to execute his deal with the Portuguese club.
Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid coach, has also been linked with a move to Manchester United. Since departing the Spanish Giants for the second time in 2021, the 51-year-old has been without a club.
Amorim stated that he has not been approached by the club since his team’s 4-2 triumph over Farense in the Portuguese Cup on Thursday.

“Regarding the future, I have an idea for the end of the season, but I won’t say it now. But the results and the context take us to something different. I don’t want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United.”
